Why I became a Coach
My Personal Journey with ADHD

Hi, I’m Tanya Cameron, an ADHD and Executive Function Life Coach based in the Tri-Cities of British Columbia. I am on a mission to spread awareness of ADHD and how it shows up in our lives; to remove the stigma surrounding it and bring greater understanding and connection into our homes, workplaces and communities as a whole.
When I first learned of my own ADHD at 51, it was a real awakening and one of the most pivotal points in my life. At first, I grieved for the life that could have been, “had I only known.” Then I dove in deep to learn everything I could about ADHD and how to manage it. The more people I met with ADHD, the more I felt this amazing sense of comradery I’d never felt before. I felt free and safe to speak my truth, and to take off the mask that I’ve worn pretty much my entire life.
Throughout my adult years, I unknowingly sought help for my ADHD symptoms only to be dismissed or misdiagnosed. Varying degrees of anxiety, depression and overwhelm were familiar passengers on and off for the ride. Always misplacing things and running late, my mind constantly busy with to do’s and “brilliant ideas,” resulting in constant notes and piles of papers taking on a life of their own. Even after working with personal organizers and getting everything in order (more than a few times), my home would inevitably return to its previous cluttered and disorganized state. Projects were started but never completed, inboxes overflowing with thousands of emails, working more hours than my peers to get the job done, and then the taxes, oh those darn late taxes! I knew what I needed to do, but no matter how hard I tried, I could not get myself to do it. Unless it piqued my interest or there was the pressure of a deadline, then I could hyperfocus, get into flow and get things done!
In my youth, I was carefree, surrounded by horses and nature. The forest was my playground and it kept me grounded. As an adult, my life unraveled a little more with each added layer of responsibility from post secondary education, employment, marriage(s), parenthood, loss of loved ones and caregiving for an ill parent. Then the hormonal shifts of menopause hit and that pushed my ADHD symptoms to a level they could no longer be ignored.
Now that I truly understand myself and what works for my unique brain, it has freed me from a lifetime of frustration, overwhelm, guilt and shame. I finally feel an inner calm I’ve not felt since I was a child. Sure, there are some days when the ADHD wins. But now I am aware when and why it’s happening; allowing me the ability to redirect and recover with more ease and self acceptance than ever before. No one should have to live a life of struggle and not knowing when there are answers out there. Life doesn’t have to always be that hard!
I want to create that safe, non-judgemental space (that I experienced) for my clients. A place where you can take off your mask, explore and understand yourself like never before – a place to discover what works for you in your unique life and for your unique brain – and a place where you can find your way forward to an inspired life with or without ADHD.

Testimonials
"Just 6 weeks ago, I was burned out and desperate, on the brink of an expensive failure borne of my own procrastination. Tanya guided me through the crisis in small, practical steps, and we’ve now created the breathing room to focus on other priorities.
I love that coaching is not just about validation, but concrete action and change. It’s been invaluable having a non-judgmental focus on all of my ADHD challenges, from feeding myself daily to refining the roadmap for my small business. Tanya sorts through my chaotic thinking-aloud and challenges me with insightful questions – no easy answers or generic solutions."
